History, Present, & Back Again

Museums tell us where we've come from, how we got here, where we are, and where to go next. They represent a compilation of the things we have left behind and have chosen to keep. The art kept within the walls of the building spark up insight, inspiration, knowledge and memory. Their purpose is not to show pretty things, expensive things, or better yet the ugliness of the human race. No, they are preserved to remind us of our desire for escape. They hang on the walls and are kept in glass boxes with ropes around them to remind us that we long to be in touch with something higher. Priceless. An expression of the groans within our souls.

If you know me at all, you certainly know that museums are my favorite. I've been in Boston for the past week, this called for a museum visit to be scheduled of course. I went to The Museum of Fine Arts a few days ago where I had the chance to see wonderful works by Goya, Edith Head, Adrian, Elsa Schiaparelli, Monet, Warhol, and Degas. Such a treat!

My favorite sculpture of all time "Nike of Samothrace" embroidered on linen. Got to see this beauty in the Louvre a few years ago. Beautiful.

P.S. mfa let's you visit the museum a second time after your ticket purchase just as long as you go again within the time frame of 10 days after purchase. Take advantage of this! You won't have time to see it all in a day!
