Modest is Hottest?

Modesty: Long Skirts, no skin showing, boring, unstylish.

Some of the first words that come to mind when we think of modesty, right?

Unfortunately, we have a giant misconception of what modesty truly means. I believe modesty gives us ladies a chance to show the world who we are on the inside and reflect just that on the outside. Being interested in fashion at such an early age confused my idea of what looking fashionable really meant. It wasn’t until recently when I understood the importance of modesty.

Girls constantly complain about the way in which guys treat us, look at us, or perceive us. A lot of the reasoning may be centered upon the way we dress. Take some time to think of what we were wearing or what our motives were when such guys treated us as an object.

You see, the way in which society tells us ladies to dress does not give us power at all. It has nothing to do with being a feminist or trampling over our undeserved rights as women throughout the course of history. The way in which the media tells us to dress in order to be considered fashionable diminishes our very right to showcase whom we are as women in society.

Why give others an unrealistic image of who we are when we could simply be truthful and modest in our approach to clothing?
Maybe it’s time to re-analyze what this word means.

About a week ago, I had the privilege of styling a fashion show for a girl’s conference that was centered on modesty and purpose. The boutique Francesca’s was kind enough to partner with us and provide the clothing for the Created with a Purpose fashion show.

-There were a total of 14 looks, each showcasing the Spring/Summer 2013 collection.
(Bright colors, prints, light fabrics, and versatile combinations.)

Prepping the beautiful models before the show!

A big thanks to each of the models for doing so awesome & working that runway!
And a big thanks to our photographer Kevin with Knocked out Productions. Check him out here.

Meet best friend 2, Jackie!
The wonderful Team that made this conference a success, love these ladies!

Modesty: Truthful, respected, appreciated, virtuous, humble, beautiful, fashionable.

These are just a few of the many words we could be known for -if the next time we wear an outfit we take the time to look into the mirror and ask ourselves what we want our clothing to say about us each day.

  4. Lovely post :) The event looked like it went great but the message you were saying was even better. The way we dress says a lot about us and so many girls are pressured into dressing a certain way that they think they are supposed to dress.

  5. great post and that fashion show looks like a lot of fun! i think modesty in younger girls is important, especially since it seems like the styles right now are a lot more revealing (cut outs and crop tops, etc). thanks for the follow and following back!

I do agree with dressing modest, but guys are different and have diffrent taste. No matter what a girl wear they will get diffrent reaction. I dress modest because it's my style and I don't feel like showing my body will help my reputation. Recently,I've somewhat been seeing things differently.
